"La Tour Eiffel" means "The Eiffel Tower" in French!!!

Warning: This blog contains a ridiculous amount of pictures of the Eiffel Tower. People not interested in the Eiffel Tower should consider skipping this post.

If you look closely you can see the Eiffel Tower from on top of Notre Dame Cathedral. This is where I got my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower! (Can you tell I am excited!!!)

So excited - and it was such a nice day outside that even though we had not planned to go to the Eiffel Tower that day, we decided to do it! We took the Metro to the nearest station. And...There we were!

Here is the view from underneath the Eiffel Tower!

We walked up to the first floor, and here we are!

There are elevators, but we wanted to walk.

Here is the view from the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. (The second floor is actually 38 flights of stairs - that is 674 steps.) That is as high as they will let you climb on foot. We decided not to go up to the very top because you have to go on a small elevator, and it was a very long line...and we had not had lunch yet.)

We actually had lunch ON the Eiffel Tower! There are a few little restaurants there. Afterwards, we climbed down.

There is a park directly across from the tower called the Trocadero. This is where we walked afterward and you can see the flowers in the park.

We liked the Eiffel Tower soooooo much that we went back a few days later just to see it at night.

When we got there the coolest thing ever happened....

Suddenly, a bunch of fountains blasted on...

And then the Tower started sparkling! It was as if thousands of tiny flashing lights attached to the Eiffel Tower started twinkling all at once! Okay, so maybe that is what happened...
