"Erste Schnee" Translated: "First Snow"
Yesterday I woke up to my dad's stereo with "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" playing loudly. When I looked out my window I not only saw snow on the ground, but snow still falling from the sky. I went downstairs to find hot chocolate on the table. After breakfast, I got dressed, put on my new boots, went outside with Kieran, and we started a snowball fight.
Sadly, we had to go back inside to start packing up for our weekend trip to Nürnberg. It didn't turn out to be a very good sight-seeing day because it was really cold and it snowed all day. Sunday turned out to be pretty sunny and Kieran and I played in some leaves in Nurenburg after church.
There was still some snow left on the ground when we got home.
It's supposed to be 16 degrees Farenheit tonight for the low...Yikes!

Herbst
"Herbst": Translated means "Autumn."
Having lived in Texas and Hawaii my whole life, I have never seen a "real" Autumn. It's really cool. There are lots of colorful leaves. Recently it has been really foggy and cold. One of the coolest things is when I wake up in the morning and there is frost on the grass and it looks like somebody spray-painted it white.

Im Wald
"Im Wald": Translated means "In the forest"
Where we live is out in the country, but even in the country there are walking/biking trails everywhere on the side of the road.
This weekend we got in the car, drove for five minutes, parked our car, got out, and started walking along one of these trails. As we walked, we found this entrance to a forest, so we went in. (My little brother Kieran did not want to go into the "dark and scary forest" but we made him go anyway.)
After we had walked for twenty seconds (trying to cheer my brother up) my mom said, "Look! It's a wierd mushroom!" We all looked at the mushroom.

After we had walked for twenty seconds (trying to cheer my brother up) my mom said, "Look! It's a wierd mushroom!" We all looked at the mushroom.
Soon we found another mushroom...
And another...
And a whole bunch more!
Then Kieran said, "I'm a mushroom explorer!" (Apparently he wasn't afraid of the "dark and scary forest" anymore.) We found so many different colors, kinds, shapes, and sizes of mushrooms. We started naming them:
Chinese hats
Green Vomit
Cheese Pie
Yawning Baby with a Winking Face
Orange Donuts
Flower
Bird Bath
Shark tooth
Red bird bath
Slimy Blue
Cheese Pizza
Skeleton Skull (look at the base of the stem)
And my personal favorite, the Minnie Mouse.
We never knew it was so fun to look for mushrooms!
When it was time to go, Kieran didn't want to leave the mushrooms.
And when we got home we wanted to try to identify all of the mushrooms, but the Minnie Mouse mushroom was the easiest to identify. It's the called the Amanita Muscaria, and if you ever see one, DON'T eat it! They are deadly poisonous!
I'm really excited to see where our next walk will take us!
