Gelb

"Gelb" means "Yellow" in German!

 

Now that I finally finished my trip to England, here are a couple of things that have been going on in Germany in the meantime... 

 

In the spring here the farmers plant a bright yellow flower called rapeseed that is used to make canola oil. 

 

 

When you are just driving around you will see fields and fields of flourescent yellow!

 

 

It usually only lasts for a couple weeks.

 

Since we live right near the farms, we get to see it.

 

And that is probably more than you ever needed to know...

 

about rapeseed.

 

Ta-da!

 

Something else that we did was watch Kieran race in his first Pinewood Derby.

 

 

These cars looked pretty fast.

 

But the clear winner was the "Ottermobile."

 

Ready, set......GO!

 

The Ottermobile wins it by a nose!

 

Amazingly, Kieran's car was the fastest and he got a ribbon! Yay!

 

Another cool thing that happened to Kieran was he turned 8 years old!

 

This is the Manteler See, which is a small lake near where we live.

 

Kieran was baptized there the day after his birthday.

 

My dad baptized him.

 

Nice family photo...

 

Even Grandma & Grandpa came out for the occasion.

 

We had a picnic afterwards.

 

Many friends came to share the occasion...even this otter.

 

So many cool things going on!

 



 

And even one cool thing for me!

 

I am officially a teenager now - I turned 13! 

 

And I won an Award of Merit at the National level in the PTA Reflections Contest this year!
