"Trauriges Gesicht - Glückliches Gesicht" means "Sad Face - Happy Face" in German.
Sad face. Meet Hexy. He is my cat. He had an adventure. And he got hurt. So now he has a cone of shame.
Hexy is an indoor only cat. This doesn't work so well for him if he gets out. Especially not here in rural Bavaria. Wild animals live in the countryside. We think he might have met a fox who didn't like him. The tooth marks on his haunches are too big to be a cat, and follow the pattern of a fox bite.
The caption says it all. Don't worry, he is all better now and doesn't even have to wear the cone any more, but he also has not tried to go on any more adventures. He likes the great indoors.
Okay, enough random cat updates. Back to the important stuff:
ME! I also had an adventure.
By the way, happy 50th blog post! You've still got a few hours left to submit your entry to the Gruenhundstrasse Anniversary Challenge, and there is still space for one more winner! Get your entry in!
This amazing view, taken from my phone, is in Oberwesel, Germany. It is on the Rhine River. Pay special attention to the castle on the top of the hill...
Usually my Dad is the one taking the pictures, but most of the pictures in the blog today are taken by ME because I went on a trip with a group from my school for a Junior Leadership Seminar. Ten of us from my school were chosen to go, and lots of other kids from all over Europe came to the conference. It was an adventure!
This is the view from the top of the castle! The youth hostel we stayed at was right next to Schoenburg Castle!
These are doors at the top of the castle. Cute little red doors. I don't know what they are for, but they are cute.
The Rhine River!
These are grapes they grow for wine. How do they plant it sideways on the hill?
So in the castles they had tiny, skinny little windows. They were for archers to shoot out of them so that it would be harder for other people to shoot back at them.
This is part of the castle wall.
This is the Liebfrauenkirche, which they call the Church of Our Lady in English.
More grapes for wine here. So steep!
Lucky for me, my parents picked me up from Oberwesel at the end of the week so that I did not have to take the bus home for nine hours. (Yay! Happy face!) It's really not that far from my house - by car it only takes three hours. Busses just go really, really, really slow on the Autobahn.
So my dad took a couple pictures of me by the castle with my happy face!
But when they picked me up...we didn't head home...
Instead, we drove to Belgium...
